Dangerous Beauty (1998): Catherine McCormack as a Courtesan in 16th Century Venice

Directed by Marshall Herskovitz, based on the non-fiction novel "The Honest Courtesan", Dangerous Beauty (1998) combines erotic charm and historical drama. The story concerns Veronica Franco, a courtesan in 16th Century Venice, whose expertise makes her both a hero to the city and a target of the Inquisition on charges of witchcraft. Catherine McCormack is superb in the lead role. The supporting cast does a fine job as well, including Rufus Sewell, Oliver Platt, Moira Kelly, Fred Ward and Jacqueline Bisset.
