The Pink Panther 2 (2009): Inspector Clouseau and Art Theft
Directed by Harald Zwart, inspired by the films of Blake Edwards, The Pink Panther 2 (2009) was the sequel to the 2006 slapstick comedy remake, The Pink Panther. The story concerns an international "Dream Team" of detectives, led by French Inspector Jacques Clouseau, tasked with tracking down the Tornado… a daring master thief that has just stolen several valuable artworks of historical significance from across Europe, including The Magna Carta, The Shroud of Turin and The Pink Panther diamond. With clumsy, savant-style bumblings, the mystery unfolds in entertaining fashion despite the natural tendencies of some cast to overact. Steve Martin is funny as the clueless and accident-prone Inspector Clouseau. Indian actress (and Miss World 1994) Aishwarya Rai is ravishing in her role. The supporting cast is good as well, including Jean Reno, Alfred Molina, Any Garcia, Lily Tomlin and John Cleese.
