Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009)
Directed by Shawn Levy, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009) fared similarly with critics and audiences as it's predecessor, Night at the Museum... critics were largely unreceptive, but younger folks and family audiences loved it. The setting is shifted from New York to to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C., where the exhibits and the cursed Ancient Egyptian tablet from the first film have been moved, bringing new inanimate objects to life at night… including famous works of art like Rodin's "The Thinker", a Degas Dancer, Jeff Koons' sculpture and the Lincoln Memorial. New historical figures appear as well, including Al Capone, Ivan the Terrible, General Custer and Napoleon. Ben Stiller returns as Larry Daley, the security guard set to save the day. Robin Williams returns as Theodore Roosevelt. Amy Adams is witty and beautiful in a scene-stealing performance as Amelia Earhart. Hank Azaria is great as the angry Egyptian out to retrieve the tablet. The supporting cast is good as well, with both old and new faces, including Ricky Gervais, Owen Wilson and Christopher Guest.
