Directed by David A.R. White, The Book of Esther (2013) is based on the Biblical book of the same name. The story focuses on a young jewish girl who is chosen as the new queen consort to King Xerxes I of Persia and her efforts to save the Jews from extermination at the hands of evil Lord Haman. The stagy ancient sets and made-for-TV drama are acceptable when considering the overall good quality of the film. The cast does a decent job all-around, including Jen Lilley, Joel Smallbone, Thaao Penghlis and Robert Miano.
