Robin Hood (1922): Douglas Fairbanks in Silent, Medieval England

Directed by Allan Dwan, and written and produced by Douglas Fairbanks (1922), Robin Hood (1922) was the first film have an official Hollywood "Premiere". The celebration was fitting and expected, as Robin Hood proved to be one of the most expensive film productions of the 1920's... costing around $1,000,000. Indeed, the film is a Silent cinematic marvel. The grand castle sets are lovely and the action scenes are exciting, with great performances all around, including Douglas Fairbanks as Huntingdon/Robin Hood, Wallace Beery as King Richard the Lion Hearted, Sam De Grasse as Prince John and Enid Bennett as Lady Marian.
