The Awakening (2011): Rebecca Hall and a Ghost Boy

Co-written and directed by Nick Murphy, The Awakening (2011) is an artful and suspense-filled ghost film on par with The Innocents and The Others. The story concerns a British author in the early 20th Century, specializing in exposing supernatural ghost hoaxes, who is summoned to a boarding school to investigate reports of a troublesome ghost boy on the premises. Eery and dramatic, the film is a masterful effort. Rebecca Hall superb and beautiful in the lead role. The supporting cast is great as well, including Dominic West, Imelda Staunton and Isaac Hempstead-Wright.
