Directed by Christophe Gans, Beauty and the Beast or La Belle et la Bete (2014) is a superior adaptation of the classic 18th Century French fairy tale by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve. The storyline concerns an unexpected romance between the youngest daughter of a merchant and a mysterious beast in a magical castle. The set designs, special effects and cinematography are astonishing. The cast does a wonderful job, including Lea Seydoux as Belle and Vincent Cassel as the Beast.
