Directed by John Cromwell, based on the book by Edison Marshall, Son of Fury: The Story of Benjamin Blake (1942) is a luscious period film, full of adventure and interest. The story concerns a man's circuitous quest to claim his noble birthright, and the love he finds along the way. The all-star cast is wonderful, including Tyrone Power in the lead role, Gene Tierney is a radiant standout as a beautiful Island girl, Frances Farmer as the opportunistic girl, George Sanders as the evil uncle, Elsa Lanchester and John Carradine.
