Wrong Turn (2003): Eliza Dushku

With elements borrowed from the 1970's Horror tradition, Wrong Turn (2003) is a much better film than it is given credit for. With some aspects similar to Wes Craven's The Hills Have Eyes (1977), the film works because of those same fundamentals that made all those other movies so scary 30+ years ago: It kept things simple... A plain premise is laid out, the characters are introduced, and then they start getting killed off one by one. Of course, beautiful girls are a must in works of the genre, with Emmanuelle Chriqui and Eliza Dushku. The cinematography is good, and the special effects make-up team really did well with the gory stuff. If taken for what it is, Wrong Turn delivers on all counts.

Driving through the backwoods of West Virginia on his way to North Carolina, Chris Flynn (Desmond Harrington) hits a vehicle belonging to a group of friends. Both cars are totaled. The friends, including Scott (Jeremy Sisto), Carly (Emmanuelle Chriqui) and Jessie (Eliza Dushku) walk off with Chris in search of help...

Their other two friends stay behind and, as the group soon finds out, are gruesomely murdered by a family of inbred, hillbilly, cannibalistic mountain men...
