Directed by George Marshall, Houdini (1953) is an entertaining but highly fictionalized biopic of famed magician and escape artist Harry Houdini. The plot follows Houdini's humble beginnings to his world-renowned fame. Interesting sojourns, such as his marital and maternal relationships and his efforts to debunk spiritualists keep the pace going. The Technicolor cinematography is brilliant. Tony Curtis is great as Harry Houdini and Janet Leigh is beautiful as his wife, Bess.
