The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946): Lana Turner and John Garfield

Directed by Tay Garnett, The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946) was the third film adaptation of the story by James M. Cain. Set firmly in Film Noir, the plot focuses on a drifter who falls for the gorgeous trophy wife of his new employer, and how they together plan to kill her husband... with tragic results. Blonde bombshell Lana Turner is ravishing in the sexy, Femme Fatale role. John Garfield is powerful as her love interest and co-conspirator. Hume Cronyn is great as a smooth defense lawyer. The film is a true Classic, and worthy of repeat viewings.
