Directed by John Sturges, Bad Day at Black Rock (1955) is a superb film that successfully combines elements of Film Noir and Western genres. The story concerns a mysterious one-armed WWII veteran that shows up in a tight-lipped isolated desert town in search of a missing man… and asks too many questions. Tense action and stand-offs run throughout, making this an enjoyable "must see" film masterpiece. Spencer Tracy is tough, cool and badass in the lead role. The supporting cast is wonderful as well, including Lee Marvin, Ernest Borgnine, Walter Brennan, Anne Francis and Robert Ryan.
