David A. Glattly, 33° Receives Sovereign Grand Commander Portrait by Travis Simpkins. Scottish Rite, NMJ

David Glattly, 33° receives Sovereign Grand Commander portrait by Travis Simpkins. Scottish Rite NMJ

Earlier today, I had the honor of presenting Ill. David A. Glattly, 33° with the oil portrait I painted of him as Sovereign Grand Commander of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction.

This life-size painting is now in the collection of the Scottish Rite Museum & Library at the Supreme Council, 33°, NMJ headquarters in Lexington, Massachusetts. It will become part of a 200 year tradition and join a display of portraits depicting all the other Sovereign Grand Commanders of the NMJ going back to 1813. This portrait also has added personal meaning for me, as Dave has been very kind and supportive of my Masonic journey from the beginning. He is a great leader and an inspiration to the Craft.
