Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)

     With Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011), director Gore Verbinski, who had directed the previous Pirates films, was replaced by Rob Marshall. It was a questionable decision that has a palpable feel in the flow of the film. Nevertheless, the film, the fourth in the Disney series, is quite entertaining... with Jack Sparrow, Barbossa and Blackbeard in search of Ponce de Leon and the legendary Fountain of Youth. Supernatural elements blend with wonderful 18th Century historic detail (including Court Palace scenes). The CGI is superb, especially in regard to the Mermaid scenes, and the action is intense. The cast is great, including Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, Penelope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa and Ian McShane as Blackbeard.
