Travis Simpkins Visits the House of the Temple, Supreme Council 33° in Washington, D.C.

I recently visited my friend Arturo de Hoyos at the House of the Temple in Washington, D.C. and greatly enjoyed touring the building. Located one mile directly north of the White House, the magnificent structure is modeled after the ancient Mausoleum at Halicarnassus (one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World). The House of the Temple is home to the Supreme Council 33° of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction. Completed in 1915, the building was designed by John Russell Pope, who later designed the Jefferson Memorial and the National Gallery of Art.

Travis Simpkins Visits the Masonic Temple in Philadelphia, Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania

I recently made an informal visit to the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania at the Masonic Temple in Philadelphia. The ornate medieval-style building, completed in 1873, is one of the nation's great architectural wonders… a true masterpiece. I especially like the Egyptian and Renaissance chambers. Everyone was very hospitable and my wife and I both greatly enjoyed touring the facility.
