Worcester Historical Museum Reopens After Basement is Flooded. Worcester, Massachusetts

Currently, the most important museum event in central Massachusetts (by far) is the reopening of the Worcester Historical Museum. A few weeks ago, they faced every museum's nightmare when a pipe burst and flooded the basement. The museum closed, the catastrophe was dealt with and thankfully there were no losses to the collection. I paid a brief visit today and was pleased to see the staff (including Director Bill Wallace) tending to the exhibits. If you're in the area, stop by 30 Elm Street and show some support for this wonderful local institution.

Rosecliff. Christmas at the Newport Mansions, 2016

I spent the day enjoying the architecture of Rosecliff. The historic home was decorated for Christmas at the Newport Mansions, 2016. No matter how many times I visit the Gilded Age "summer cottages," I'm always amazed by the extravagant details and the admirable work of the Preservation Society of Newport County to maintain the various museums.
