Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library Acquires Portrait of the Author by Travis Simpkins

A portrait I created of author Kurt Vonnegut (1922 - 2007) has been acquired for the permanent collection at the Kurt Vonnegut Museum & Library, located in his hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana. Kurt Vonnegut was one of the greats of 20th Century literature. As a longtime admirer of his work, it is truly an honor to have a piece of my artwork in his namesake Museum and be associated with his legacy.

I first discovered Kurt Vonnegut's writings as a teenager when I came across a copy of "Slaughterhouse-Five". I subsequently read all of his other books (he wrote 14 novels, 5 plays and 8 compilations of essays and short stories). He was one of my biggest heroes while growing up (and still is). Somewhere in the distant past a younger version of myself is looking on and smiling.
