Directed by Michael Rymer, based on The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, Queen of the Damned (2003) was released six months after the death of it's star, Aaliyah, and is dedicated to her memory. The story follows the vampire Lestat as he becomes a Rock Star in the modern age, with his music awakening the ancient queen of all vampires. The scene in which Lestat first encounters the Ancient Egyptian statue of the Queen Akasha are wonderfully filmed. The cast is hit or miss, including Stuart Townsend, Marguerite Moreau, Paul McGann, Vincent Perez and Lena Olin.
