The story centers on Robin of Locksley's return to England after the Holy Crusades, where he find his country oppressed by the sadistic Sheriff of Nottingham. Shot on location in The United Kingdom and France, the medieval battles are intense and the scenery is perfectly beautiful. Kevin Costner is excellent as Robin Hood. Morgan Freeman is his Moorish friend, Azeem. Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio in the lovely Maid Marian. Alan Rickman is the cold Sheriff of Nottingham. Christian Slater is Will Scarlet, and Sean Connery appears briefly as King Richard.
