Hellraiser (1987): Clive Barker, Pinhead and Horror
Written and directed by Clive Barker, based on his own novella "The Hellbound Heart", Hellraiser (1987) became an instant Cult Classic, spawned a franchise and ranks at #19 on the list of the 100 Scariest Movie Moments. The story concerns a lustful and sadomasochistic man who buys a puzzle box that releases cenobites from hell that tear him apart. He escapes their wrath, but needs freshly-killed human blood to regenerate his body. The special effects were quite good for their time. The cast is good, including Andrew Robinson, Clare Higgins, Sean Chapman, Ashley Laurence, Doug Bradley, Nicholas Vince, Simon Bamford, Grace Kirby and Oliver Smith.
