Good source material and instructional guides related to the Cryptic Degrees of York Rite Freemasonry are hard to find. Fortunately, thanks to Cornerstone Book Publishers, The Text Book of Cryptic Masonry by Jackson H. Case remains in print. It is an invaluable resource, providing integral parts of the Degrees of Royal Master, Select Master and Super-Excellent Master. Prayers and lectures are combined with monitorial instruction in this text, which should be required reading for students of the York Rite.

Directed by Peter Flinth, based on the books by Jan Guillou, Arn: The Knight Templar (2007) is powerful medieval epic with locales sweeping from the snowy battlefields of Sweden to the arid desert of the Holy Land. The original mini-series format is spread out over six episodes. When a 12th Century young couple have a baby out of wedlock, they are sentenced to 20 years of penance… she is sent to a convent, he is dispatched to the Holy Land as a warrior in God's Army: The Knights Templar. Raw emotion, intense battles and historical details mix with good acting and writing. A grandiose cinematic achievement, the film is the most expensive Swedish production to date. The cast does a great job all-around, including Joakim Natterqvist as Arn Magnusson, Sofia Helin, Stellan Skarsgard, Simon Callow, Vincent Perez, Bibi Andersson, Michael Nyqvist and Milind Soman.
