Finding Altamira (2016): Antonio Banderas and Paleolithic Cave Paintings

Directed by Hugh Hudson, Finding Altamira (2016) was met with semi-favorable reviews by critics. The mostly true story focuses on the groundbreaking discovery of paleolithic cave paintings in the Cave of Altamira in Cantabria, Spain and the uproarious controversy it raised amongst the religious and scientific communities of the time. The cinematography is brilliant and the set design team did a great job recreating 19th Century period details. The cast does a good job, including Antonio Banderas as Marcelino Sanz de Sautuola y de la Pedrueca, Allegra Allen, Clement Sibony, Rupert Everett and the beautiful Golshifteh Farahani.

Willow (1988): Warwick Davis, Val Kilmer and Medieval Magic

Directed by Ron Howard, based on a story by George Lucas, Willow (1988) is one of the great fantasy films of the 1980's… a Modern Classic. The story concerns a dwarf tasked with protecting a savior child from an evil sorceress in a fictional medieval land. Great action, chases and battles mix with magic. Warwick Davis is great in the title role. Val Kilmer is wonderful as Madmartigan. Joanne Whalley is sexy as the villainess Sorsha. The supporting cast is great as well, including Jean Marsh, Tony Cox and Kevin Pollack.
