Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013): Quest for the Mythical Golden Fleece

Directed by Thor Freudenthal, based on the book by Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (2013) picks up where the first film, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, left off. In order to rescue their dying safe haven camp, Percy Jackson (son of Poseidon) must venture off on a quest to find the mythical Golden Fleece… and prevent the evil Titan Kronos from rising. The special effects inspired by Greek Mythology are astounding and the action carries the story along in entertaining fashion. The cast does a great job, including Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson, Alexandra Daddario, Jake Abel, Douglas Smith, Stanley Tucci and Leven Rambin as the beautiful Clarisse (daughter of Ares).

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010): Ancient Greek Mythology

Directed by Chris Columbus, based on the story by Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010) provided a modern context for Ancient Greek mythology and was popular amongst younger audiences. The plot concerns a teenager who discovers that he is the son of Poseidon… and ventures off to settle an ongoing feud between the Gods of Olympus. Astounding special effects compliment a well-written script. The cast does a great job, including Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson, Pierce Brosnan, Sean Bean, Joe Pantoliano, Uma Thurman as Medusa and Rosario Dawson as Persephone.
