December 27, 1789: Giuseppe Balsamo, aka Count Alessandro di Cagliostro, was arrested and imprisoned at the Castel Sant’Angelo.

Condemned by the Holy Inquisition, he was tried and originally sentenced to death, but the penalty was commuted to life imprisonment at the Fortress of San Leo, in the Duchy of Urbino, Italy.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 (also known simply as the abbreviated WW84) was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic prior to it's release on December 25, 2020. Appropriately, it was released both in theaters and via HBO online steaming on the same day, to accommodate restrictions on public gatherings. The film sees Gal Gadot returning as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, living among the mortals while working with antiquities at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. In typical form, a threat of world domination hangs on the horizon, this time with a dream stone that grants wishes for anyone bold enough to hold it and ask. WW84 is not as good as the previous Wonder Woman film, but nevertheless is entertaining and enjoyable. Chris Pine and Kristen Wiig co-star.
