Constantine (2005): Heaven, Hell, Earth and the Spear of Destiny
Directed by Francis Lawrence, Constantine (2005) combined character and plot elements from several DC comic books. The story focuses on an exorcist, John Constantine, who finds himself in the center of a war between God and the Devil… a wager for the souls of mankind. True evil may be unleashed onto Earth when the Spear of Destiny, the weapon used to pierce the side of Jesus Christ upon the cross, is found buried in a Nazi secret relic compartment. The special effects are astounding, especially the scenes in which the damned scurry about in the streets of Hell. The cast does a good job all-around, including Keanu Reeves, Shia LaBeouf, Rachel Weisz, Gavin Rossdale, Tilda Swinton and Djimon Hounsou.
