Directed by Roger Christian, Prisoners of the Sun (2013) was shot in 2006 and completed in 2007, but was not released on DVD until 2013… at which time it was met with negative reviews. The story concerns an expedition that discovers a lost city beneath a recently uncovered pyramid… where they must stop the awakened Ancient Egyptian gods from initiating the apocalypse. The script and acting leave much to be desired, but the overall premise is entertaining. Fast forward to scenes dealing with Egyptian antiquities and glimpses of archaeology. The cast does an okay job with the material, including John Rhys-Davies, David Charvet and Carmen Chaplin.
