Directed by John Huston, Moulin Rouge (1952) paints an intriguing picture of 1890's Bohemian Paris. The semi-biographical story follows dwarf artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec through the Burlesque subculture of the Moulin Rouge theatre. Brilliant Technicolor illuminates the screen. The pace is dramatic and slow, but worth the time. Jose Ferrer is excellent as Henri de Toulouse-Laurec. Zsa Zsa Gabor is beautiful as Jane Avril. Colette Marchand costars.
