Directed by Shawn Levy, Night at the Museum (2006) received mixed reviews from critics, but nevertheless struck a chord with young folks and family-based audiences. Thoroughly funny and entertaining, based on a 1993 children's book, the story focuses on a newly-hired night watchman at the Museum of Natural History in New York City, and the chaos he faces as the exhibits come to life at night... thanks to the supernatural power of an ancient Egyptian tablet on the premises. The cast is great, including Ben Stiller in the lead role, Robin Williams as Teddy Roosevelt, Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Owen Wilson and Ricky Gervais.
