The World is Not Enough (1999): Pierce Brosnan as James Bond, Sophie Marceau and Denise Richards

Directed by Michael Apted, The World is Not Enough (1999) is the 19th film in the James Bond series and the 3rd outing for Pierce Brosnan as 007. The story centers on a terrorist plot to corner the market on the world's petroleum prices by triggering a nuclear meltdown. Sophie Marceau and Denise Richards are stunning as the two Bond girls. As usual, the special effects and action are over the top impressive. A very well executed production.

Die Another Day (2002): James Bond "007" (Pierce Brosnan, Halle Berry and Madonna)

Directed by Lee Tamahori, Die Another Day (2002) provided a few landmarks in the history of the James Bond franchise: It is the 20th film in the series and coincided with the 40th Anniversary of the first Bond film, Dr. No (1962), and contains numerous references to past films. It is the last film in the original storyline, with the next one, Casino Royale (2006) going in a different direction. And Die Another Day was the last film to star Pierce Brosnan as James Bond, Agent 007. In a fitting, sensuous finale, the enchanting Halle Berry was chosen as the "Bond Girl" for Die Another Day, adding her to the long list of beauties who have provided love for 007. With knock-your-socks-off special effects and more than enough bravado to go around, Die Another Day is a great addition to this illustrious franchise.
Illegal conflict diamonds are being traded by Colonel Tan-Sun Moon and his assistant, Zao, on a North Korean military base, when James Bond infiltrates the compound. A fight ensues, in which Moon is killed and Zao is disfigured, with diamonds splintering his face. Bond has been betrayed, however, is caught and thrown in jail for 14 months...

Casino Royale (2006): James Bond "007" (Daniel Craig and Eva Green)

The succes of Casino Royale (2006) is all the more impressive when taken in the context of all the negative anticipatory reactions preceding it's release. Fans and critics were displeased with the producers' choice of blonde, somewhat-unsophisticated actor Daniel Craig as the new James Bond. Craig's uncouth characteristics and rugged demeanor were just what the 007 series needed, however, in it's attempt to reboot the franchise with a cooler, grittier image. Casino Royale, the 21st James Bond film, breaks with the running storyline of it's predecessors and begins fresh... with James Bond as a tough-as-nails agent beginning his career, vulnerable and rough around the edges, eager to have and utilize the "Double 0" status... his "license to kill." The actors are all wonderful, especially Daniel Craig, who delivers in spades. The lovely Eva Green, while not a typical "Bond Girl", is great in her role as well. The supporting cast is solid too, including Mads Mikkelsen, Judi Dench and Jeffrey Wright.
