Directed by Pierre Morel, and written by Luc Besson, Taken (2008) is an original and action-packed film… certainly one of the most entertaining and well-made in the past decade. The story concerns a retired CIA operative, Bryan Mills, who must track down and rescue his daughter after she is abducted by sex traffickers while traveling in Paris. The fight scenes are bad ass, with the villains getting every bit of what they deserve. The protagonist is a hero whose brutal violence and passion we can admire. Liam Neeson is superb in the lead role. Maggie Grace is great in her role as the daughter. The supporting cast is wonderful as well, including Famke Janssen and Katie Cassidy.
