The Peacemaker (1997): Nicole Kidman and George Clooney

Directed by Mimi Leder, and written by Michael Schiffer, The Peacemaker (1997) pulses with adrenalin, action and plutonium. The story concerns a Nuclear Expert and a Special Forces Colonel charged with tracking down and retrieving a shipment of warheads stolen from the Russians… and on their way to the waiting hands of terrorists. Nicole Kidman and George Clooney are great in the lead roles. The supporting cast is good as well, including Marcel lures and Aleksandr Baluev.

To Die For (1995): Nicole Kidman

Directed by Gus Van Sant, with a screenplay by Buck Henry based on the book by Joyce Maynard, To Die For (1995) was inspired by the real-life 1990 murder story of Pamela Smart. The plot concerns an ambitious, opportunistic, aspiring TV newswoman who convinces a group of gullible teens to kill her husband. Shot in a mockumentary style, the film is full of dark humor, sexuality and emotion fueled by scary intentions. Nicole Kidman is great in the lead role... altogether beautiful and cunning. The supporting cast is good as well, including Matt Dillon, Buck Henry, Joaquin Phoenix and Casey Affleck.

Bewitched (2005): Nicole Kidman

Co-written, produced and directed by Nora Ephron, Bewitched (2005) is a re-imagining of the 1960's television show. It was met with negative reviews. The story concerns a real witch, who decides to cast aside her powers in favor of a real life romance, and finds herself acting alongside a has-been actor in a remake of the "Bewitched" TV Show. Nicole Kidman is beautiful and does her best with the material. Will Ferrell is funny in his role. There are many cameos. The supporting cast does a good job, including Michael Caine, Jason Schwartzman , Shirley MacLaine, Kristin Chenowith, Stephen Colbert and Steve Carrell.

Cold Mountain (2003): Nicole Kidman, Jude Law and the Civil War

Written and directed by the late Anthony Minghella, based on the novel by Charles Frazier, Cold Mountain (2003) was a sleeper hit, proving to be one of the best films on the decade, and grossing over twice it's budget. Focusing on a Confederate Army deserter trying to find his way back to his love towards the end of the American Civil War, Cold Mountain is all-together beautiful, sweeping and epic. The cinematography is crisp and the 1860's period detail is fitting. Nicole Kidman is elegant, strong and sensual throughout the film. Jude Law is resilient in his lead role. Renee Zellweger earned an Oscar for her tough supporting role. Natalie Portman and musician Jack White (of the White Stripes) have small, but good parts. The rest of the cast is great as well, including Brendan Gleeson, Donald Sutherland, Giovanni Ribisi, Ray Winstone, Lucas Black, Cillian Murphy, James Gammon, Taryn Manning and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
