"Freemasonry on the Frontier" was published in 2020. I contributed a portrait of Rob Morris to the essay about him (page 86), so I had already read that particular section a long while ago. I'm just now finding a spare bit of time to read through some of the other essays.



A collection of seventeen original papers by leading Masonic researchers and academics tracking the evolution of Freemasonry in America from the original thirteen colonies to the Pacific Coast. Contributors include Ric Berman, Brent Morris, Mike Kearsley, Barry Hoffbrand, John Wade, Adam Kendall, and Andreas Önnerfors, members of Quatuor Coronati Lodge, and a number of outstanding American scholars: Ben Williams, Hilary Anderson Stelling, Hans Schwartz ,John Kyle Day, Jeffrey Croteau, Andrew Hammer, Daniel Gardiner, and Walter H. Hunt, as well as two brilliant European writers, Peter Lanchidi from Israel and Leif Endre Grutle from Norway.

Freemasonry is entirely built around traditions. From time immemorial, those who have belonged to the world's oldest and largest fraternal order have metaphorically passed between the pillars of Solomon's Temple to nurture within themselves a harmonious bond between tradition and modernity. This is the story of the Masonic ritual, the language and ceremonial forms that have evolved into the present structure of American Freemasonry, defined its lodge space, and offered its members the same stablizing influence of instruction that has prevailed on every continent for nearly 400 years. The reader will discover that the language of the world's oldest fraternal society has also made its own interesting journey, and been tested by the most powerful and the most humbling of men. The result is, that, in Masonic lodges across America, and, indeed, the world, men from every walk of life, of all ages, every social category and every spiritual and philosophical conviction are able to find a basis for reflection on who they are, why they are here, and what has meaning to them.      The October 2019 issue of The Eastern Star Journal features artwork by both myself and my wife, Janet. This edition is focused on Dr. Rob Morris and my portrait of him is on the cover. Janet's mini painting of the Star is included inside on page 8 as well. We each gave shout-outs to Stella Chapter #3 in Auburn, Massachusetts.
     Thanks to the General Grand Chapter in Washington, D.C. for reaching out to us. Dr. Rob Morris is one of my favorite Masonic historical figures and I'm proud to have contributed the cover artwork for the national publication of the Order he founded. It is doubly meaningful to see my wife's art in the same magazine.
