I was recently asked to contribute a portrait of the Reverend James Anderson for a series of postage stamps commemorating the 300th Anniversary of Anderson's Constitutions of the Freemasons. A set of stamps was issued in Leichtenstein and a stamp was also issued in Brazil.

Freemasonry on the Frontier. Quatuor Coronati Lodge. Masonic Research. Colonial America

"Freemasonry on the Frontier" was published in 2020. I contributed a portrait of Rob Morris to the essay about him (page 86), so I had already read that particular section a long while ago. I'm just now finding a spare bit of time to read through some of the other essays.

A collection of seventeen original papers by leading Masonic researchers and academics tracking the evolution of Freemasonry in America from the original thirteen colonies to the Pacific Coast. Contributors include Ric Berman, Brent Morris, Mike Kearsley, Barry Hoffbrand, John Wade, Adam Kendall, and Andreas Önnerfors, members of Quatuor Coronati Lodge, and a number of outstanding American scholars: Ben Williams, Hilary Anderson Stelling, Hans Schwartz ,John Kyle Day, Jeffrey Croteau, Andrew Hammer, Daniel Gardiner, and Walter H. Hunt, as well as two brilliant European writers, Peter Lanchidi from Israel and Leif Endre Grutle from Norway.

Alien vs Predator (2004): An Ancient Pyramid in Antarctica

Written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, Alien vs. Predator (2004) used an original idea to cleverly combine the two successful sci-fi/thriller franchises. The plot finds an expert team investigating a newly discovered ancient pyramid deep beneath the ice of Antarctica. They soon find themselves in the middle on an ancient rite of passage between Predator and prey. The sets, utilizing ancient Aztec and Mayan designs combined with alien technology are unique and create a thoroughly interesting atmosphere… and provides a spin on the popular concept of ancient astronauts influencing primitive humans in the distant past. The cast of lesser-known actors does a good job, including Sanaa Lathan and Lance Henriksen.

The Adventure Club (2016): Kids and an Ancient Wish Box

Directed by Geoff Anderson, The Adventure Club (2016) makes an enjoyable addition to the popular genre that features children on a hunt for lost treasure. The story finds a young boy and his friends following clues left by his grandfather that lead to an ancient Sumerian "Wish Box" concealed behind a hidden wall inside the Science Museum. Low-budget aside, the mixture of Museum atmosphere and dusty relics creates a charming mystique. The cast does a decent job with the material, including Sam Ashe Arnold, Dalila Bela, Gabrielle Miller, Kim Coates and Billy Zane.

The Three Musketeers (2011): 17th Century Swashbuckling Action and Milla Jovovich

Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas, The Three Musketeers (2011) adds CGI action to the classic swashbuckling tale. The story follows cocky, hot-headed D'Artagnan as he teams up with three has-been musketeers to stop a sexy double agent in a plot to seize the French throne. Obviously, great liberties were taken with the original text. Fast-paced action and imaginative CGI effects keep the scenes interesting throughout. The beautiful Milla Jovovich steals the show in her villainous role as Milady. The rest of the cast does a good job as well, including Orlando Bloom, Christoph Waltz, Mattew Mcfadyen, Logan Lerman, Gabriella Wilde and Luke Evans.
